Okay, so the finally only applies to Lost, because Anthony Zuiker is still involved in his dastardly plan to kill me slowly by depriving me of new NY episodes. This is the same plan, sympathetic readers, that he implimented when the President Bush's speech pushed the premiere back a week. I've never been so anti-government in my life. New episodes come back next week, though, and they had better be worth it. I want cute little lines for Flack, and way more clothes on Stella, because frankly the cleavage is getting annoying, and absolutely NO MORE lube wrestling or roller derbys, because they make me a little bit sick. :p
Anyway, Lost was new last night, and it was frickin' awesome. However, I have to admit that I do agree with my dad a little teeny bit. While the episode was really interesting and I like the backstory way more than I thought I would, it was a little bit tedious. Like you realized it was only eight thirty and couldn't possibly imagine what they were going to say for the next half hour because Eko was already in a Roman collar on the tarmac, and really, what can you do to top that.
Just to run down the story a little bit, Charlie had everyone convinced for the first fifty-nine minutes of the show that he actually wasn't a druggie and perhaps might be going through a spiritual epiphany of his own before revealing that he was simply creating a stash of the Virgin Mary statues for...well, let's just say other purposes. Claire got all upset and threw Charlie out of the hut, which I wasn't aware that they were totally sharing anyway, but whatever. Maybe he can go room with Sayid who is presumably over in the corner screaming in a fetal position.
(Sayid Side Note: Entertainment Weekly this week had the funniest thing ever. They were talking about how Naveen Andrews admitted to having a love child, and how they wouldn't really even care if "the baby hadn't been revealed through a series of well-choreographed flashbacks". I almost fell off the chair I was laughing so hard.)
And Mr. Eko is a destitute kid turned revolutionary turned priest...I think. I mean, maybe he was just faking for the guys on tarmac, because you could totally tell that he was going..."Um...yeah. I'm a priest. Bless you, my child..." But I think he might actually be one, because he seemed like he was telling the truth. And really, after all those people have been through on the island, are we really keeping secrets anymore??? Even Jin knows Sun can speak English, although it took him the better part of a season.
But the biggest thing of the night was that we saw The Monster. It was awesome. It was terrifying. It made me wish I had biology again this year because I know the whole lab would have been devoted to it (my professor was a total Lostie). It was...black smoke. Yes, children, the same black smoke that featured last spring and led to upteen Pope jokes. And- get this- it's scared of Mr. Eko!!!! Seriously, dude just stared it down and it went away. Charlie's over there in a tree wetting himself, and Mr. Eko's just like "You wanno go???" I was amazing.
The episode ended with Jack smiling at Ana Lucia, who, in a departure from her usual role on the show, was not slaughtering beloved characters (okay, so Shannon wasn't that beloved. Whatever.). And Crazy Chick actually smiled back. Of course, she's looking at three to five for violating parole and drunk driving, but at least they're letting her smile. Just as long as she doesn't smile too much. I'm kind of over the Tailies, frankly. I want my castaways back. Except Mr. Eko. I like him.
The second view of the night was CSI:NY, which was a repeat (bugger) but a pretty good one. And I didn't have to watch anybody pulling evidence out of disgusting substances or listen to Mac say "lover". A good night in my book. It was the one where the dancer fell off the tram and it was kinda sad because she was just trying to get away from Crazy Lech Choreographer. And watching Stella foam at the mouth when Lindsay was schmearing that odor stuff on Mac's face was worth it. Methinks new girl had better lock her door at night...
Anyhoodles, more stuff up later, k???
